Back to Practice, Fojtik Released, Tony Turgeon Assigned By Rampage, & Who Worcester May Assign

- The reward for a great 8-2 victory on Sunday was a day off on Monday for the Allen Americans and what a nice day to have the day off with sunny skies and highs in the 70's. Whether it was time spent golfing, fishing, playing laser tag, going to the park with the children, spending time with the family, running errands or relaxing and playing video games it was a day away from the rink. The team will be back at practice today preparing for the game with Tulsa tomorrow (Wednesday). As is always the case the team will leave tomorrow at around 1:00 p.m. for the 230 mile trip to Tulsa and return to Allen right after the game.

- Josef Fojtik was released by the team yesterday. Since arriving in Allen in January along with Patrik Valcak (they were playing together in Poland) Josef played in 25 games and had seven points (4 goals 3 assists) and was a -7.

- To replace Fojtik, Allen has been assigned defenseman/left wing Tony Turgeon by the San Antonio Rampage (AHL). He was signed as an undrafted free agent by the NHL Florida Panthers in 2013. He is currently under a one year AHL contract with the Rampage. Known more for his knack of being physical and aggressive than scoring he will most likely be playing up front for the Americans.  Here is the info on Turgeon from hockeydb:

Tony Turgeon has been assigned to Allen by the San Antonio Rampage

- Had the chance to listen to Tulsa coach Bruce Ramsay talk about the upcoming game on his coaches show last night. He talked about how poorly the Oilers played in the 8-2 loss to Allen on Sunday but was confident if Tulsa played their system they would be successful on Wednesday when Allen plays in Tulsa. He did indicate he would spend some time at practice focusing on how to stop or slow down Gary Steffes and Chad Costello. Ramsay talked about the Oilers giving Costello too much time and space on Sunday and how he will make you pay if he has time and space.

- Coach Martinson has talked frequently at the post game press conferences recently that as soon as the Worcester Sharks get some players healthy he expects they will assign a forward to Allen. Have no information from the team on who might be assigned but if you look at the Worcester roster it is easy to come up with some potential candidates. There are four forwards currently in Worcester that have spent time in the ECHL this year that could be assigned to Allen. Rylan Schwartz played 22 games in Allen, Trevor Parkes played 39 games in Greenville, Chris Crane played 37 games in Missouri, and Vincent Arseneau played 17 games in Ontario and 20 games in Indy. Would expect any players assigned to Allen by Worcester would come from this group. UPDATE: Vincent Arseneau has been assigned to Allen.

- Former Allen American Garrett Klotz, who is the all time single season penalty minute record holder for Allen (257 minutes) was released yesterday by the Indy Fuel.

- Found this bracket on the ECHL web site which is the "if the playoffs started today" bracket. It is obvious with how close the teams are in the Central Division this is a long way from being decided but it is still interesting.
