Daily Dish, Stats, Fogal Update & Those Cool Red Lights

The Allen Americans showed great resilience last night in their 5-4 victory over Tulsa before a crowd of 4666 at the BOK Center. Allen came back from one goal deficits four different times before they could take the lead on Kale Kerbashain's second goal in two minutes and thirteen seconds early in the third period. Bryan Pitton stopped 14 of 15 third period shots (Tulsa had three power play opportunities) to preserve the win. The teams will be right back at in Allen for a Sunday afternoon (4:05 puck drop) rematch. I'm sure these two teams are tired of each other as Sunday's game will be the fifth time they have played in nine days. It just may be a slug fest.

- The Americans winning by one goal streak is alive and well with another one goal game last night. It would be nice to have a comfortable regulation win today and break the home streak of all games going to a shootout.

- Alex Lavoie scoring streak also continues and is now at seven. His power play goal in the first period and assist on the game winning goal in the third gives him 11 points (4 goals 7 assists) in eight games. He leads all rookies in the CHL in scoring as he has five more points than any other rookie. His 11 points ranks him third in the CHL in scoring.

- Not to be outdone by Lavoie, Darryl Bootland had an assist on Kale Kerbashain's first goal in the third period and has scored in every game (8) this season. His 12 points (6 goals 6 assists) have him tied for the league lead in scoring.

- Kale Kerbashian's two critical goals in the third period earned him the #1 star of the game while Bryan Pitton was the #3 star. Pitton has been selected one of the three stars of the game in three of the five games he has played.

- Ross Rouleau (6 points), Daniel Tetrault (6 points) and Tyler Ludwig (5 points) are all in the top six in the CHL for scoring by defensemen.

- As a testament to Steve Martinson saying, "This year the Americans will be a pack of wolves rather than one lion" Allen is second in the league in penalty minutes (194) behind only Arizona who has 199. However Allen has no players in the top thirteen in penalty minutes.

- Special teams play has come down to earth after an amazing start to the year. Last night both were good as the Americans got two power play goals in seven opportunities and gave up one goal in six chances on the penalty kill. The power play at 21.57% is now ranked number two in the league (Denver - 21.88%) and the penalty kill is ranked third in the league (90.57%) behind Missouri and Rapid City who are both at 91.18%.

- Even though Allen leads the league in points and Rapid City is undefeated having won their first seven games the most impressive start this year has been the Missouri Mavericks who are currently in third place in the standings with a perfect 6-0 record. Missouri started the season with five road games and in their first home game last night before a record breaking, standing room only crowd of 5850 they handled a very good Denver team with ease winning 6-2. The last three games of this win streak were done playing two men short on the bench as Colt King and Dave Pszenyczny served three game suspensions. Watch out for the Mavericks!

- Rapid City and Missouri play two games in Rapid City (November 15 & 16) which should be a couple of great games.

- Agent Shawn Green posted on twitter, "Focused on my boy Brad Fogal, deal will be done shortly. So many inquiries."

Beacon Light at coolsafetyproducts.com

- I get many inquiries about the bright red beacon lights you see at the AEC that fans use when a goal is scored so thought I would share the information where you can purchase these lights. Not trying to compete with the team store as they have several varieties of flashing red lights but if you want the industrial strength light you see in the AEC they can be purchased at coolsafetyproducts.com. The model number is FT-PL-300RJ and the cost is $37.45 plus shipping. Here are the details:

The PL-300 battery operated beacon light is a versatile safety light suitable for a variety of warning and attention-getting applications. Equipped with two powerful magnets on the base, this beacon can be temporarily mounted on vehicles and other equipment. The rotational pattern of the 20 LED lights simulates the look of a motorized beacon without any moving parts. The rotational speed is easily adjusted with an internal screw. A built-in AC jack allows for the use of an optional plug-in power adapter. On a fresh set of batteries, this beacon can run for as many as 144 hours.

Thanks to John Weithman who is the one that gave me this information a couple of years ago when I wanted to buy one of these lights. John has one of the lights described above but his also has a remote control.

DID YOU KNOW: Trevor Ludwig's short-handed goal last night was the first scored by a defenseman for Allen since the 2010-2011 season when Erik Adams had two shorties including one in the home opener against the Brahmas.
