Allen Americans Release Seven, Roster Now At 22

The Allen Americans have released seven players: goalie Phil Cook, defensemen Kirk Byczynski and Peter Cintala, and forwards Andrew Harrison, Matt Robertson, Robert Short, and Chris Wilson. Most of the guys released will be playing for the Louisiana Ice Gators in the SPHL so their exposure in camp may earn them a call up during the season if the Americans need to find a player on short notice.

The Americans have now reduced the roster to 22 players which will have to be reduced to no more than 20 (19 plus Phil Fox on IR) by Thursday afternoon.

There are now three goalies (Fogal, Levine & Pitton), six defensemen (Berube, Hendrikx, Trevor & Tyler Ludwig, Rouleau & Tetrault), and 13 forwards (Asuchak, Bootland, Fox, Kerbashian, Lachance, Lavoie, Lessard, Lukin, Micks, Schaafsma, Snowden, Tamblyn, and Thibodeau (who also plays defense) on the roster.

Keep in mind the final roster won't necessarily come from these 22 players as there could be players signed this week that have been released from other leagues and other teams.

Practice is at 10:00 am today at the AEC and is open to the public. There will be a different approach to practice starting today as the team prepares for a home and home series with the Wichita Thunder this weekend with the home opener scheduled for Sunday, October 20th.
