Former Americans Players Update

Can We Come Back Next Year Daddy?
As Bruce Graham celebrated his championship with his daughter yesterday I thought I would check out how other Allen alumni were doing in the playoffs. The AHL has not finished there regular season so no playoffs yet in that league but here are some updates on the AHL:

- The Springfield Falcons (Scott Howes) have clinched first place in their division so will be playoff bound. Scott has not been playing recently because of injury. He hopes to return for the playoffs.  One of the most amazing statistics of the year has to be Scott finishing 20th in the CHL and 3rd on the Americans with his 21 goals while playing in only one third of the games.

- The Manchester Monarchs (Colton Yellow Horn) are tenth in the conference in points and will need to play very well down the stretch to make the top eight to secure a playoff spot. The good news is Colton has stuck with the club since being called up in early February. He has six goals and eleven assists for 17 points in the 23 games he has played in the AHL. Is is also a +5

- The Grand Rapid Griffins (Brett Skinner) lead their division and will make the playoffs. Brett has 2 goals and 13 assists for 17 points in 28 games since being called up and is a +7.

- The Houston Aeros (Ryley Grantham) are ranked fifth in the conference (eight make the playoffs) and look in good shape to make the playoffs. Ryley has 4 assists and 69 penalty minutes in 23 games since being called up. His plus minus is +4 but he has only had two minus games out of the 23 he has played.

- The Texas Stars (Jordie Benn) have clinched first place in their division and are considered a favorite for the Calder Cup. Jordie has 23 games with the Dallas Stars and 43 with the Texas Stars. In his 43 AHL games he has 7 goals, 14 assists for 21 points. In addition he is a +5 and has 111 PIM's

ECHL PLAYOFFS - 1st Round:

- The Elmira Jackals (Coach Dwight Mullins) are playing the Florida Everblades in the first round and are 1-1 having lost the first game 5-1 & won the second game 8-2. Both of these games were in Florida so they are headed back to Elmira for the next three games.

- The Gwinnett Gladiators (Justin Bowers) lead in their series 2-0 against the South Carolina Stingrays. Justin has one assist in the first two games.

- The Toledo Walleye (Nino Musitelli) are down 2-0 in their series with the Cincinnati Cyclones having lost the first game in 2 overtimes. Nino did not play in either game as according to the ECHL transactions he was placed on reserve on April 5th. I don't have any details.

- The San Francisco Bulls (Scott Langdon & Dylan King) who are the number eight seed are playing the top team in the league, the Alaska Aces and have split the first two games in Alaska. This would be a major upset but I would expect Alaska will win the series.

- The Las Vegas Wranglers (Judd Blackwater) are playing the Stockton Thunder and lost the first two games both in overtime. Judd had a goal in a 3-2 loss on Saturday. These are the 4th and 5th seeds so it should be a good series heading to Las Vegas for the next three games.

- The Ontario Reign (Colton Yellow Horn) swept the Utah Grizzlies 4-0 in the first round. Even though Colton is no longer on the team I thought you might be interested.

So there you have the update. The question which players that have worn an Americans jersey will join Bruce Graham as season champions. I sure hope it is the players currently wearing the Americans jersey!!
